DAWN SPARKS, DO
Dr. Dawn Sparks trained at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic with multiple pioneers in pain management, including Doctors Michael Stanton-Hicks and Leo Kapural. She has already published several journal articles and book chapters on important topics in the field of pain medicine.
Dr. Sparks graduated with honors from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland in 1999. Early in her college career, she did research with a pediatric oncologist, and saw the need for effective pain control. Dr. Sparks was perplexed by the ordeals patients faced, and hoped to ease the many difficulties patients deal with while in unrelenting pain. This early interest in pain medicine led her to Ohio University for medical school, followed by postgraduate training in Anesthesiology and Pain Management at the Cleveland Clinic, which she completed in 2009.
After three years as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, she was in private practice in St. Croix in the Virgin Islands and Seattle, Washington. Dr. Sparks is very excited to join Dr. Grigsby's practice on Kauai, and privileged to work with a leader in pain management in both the clinical care and research arenas. Most of all, she is delighted to call Kauai home, and to offer her patients empathy, kindness, and excellent clinical care.
